    • Back in the days of local software that weren't cloud apps, you needed tech support significantly more.
    • Cloud software and hermetically sealed apps are more likely to stay working… at the cost of much less user agency and combinatorial power.
    • Software mechanics have also been necessary for some complex enterprise software that are horizontal systems of record, like Salesforce.
    • But now with the rise of bespoke software, we'll see it in more personal scenarios again.
