A common pattern aggregators do: the peek and poach.

· Bits and Bobs 6/24/24

Have a sanitized, clean, organized 1P interaction surface area. Then watch what's happening in the bottom-up ecosystem and find the patterns that the swarm has cohered around as good ideas, and then hoist up just those patterns in sanitized versions in the 1P thing.

The aggregator lets the 3P swarm do all the work and take all the risk, and then they skim just the cream on top.

This then takes all the oxygen away from the 3P system because it overshadows it.

As the 3P ecosystem dies out from starvation, the usage of the 1P version increases.

This pattern is one that aggregators, given their privileged position, do automatically, without even thinking.

Accidentally parasitic.

It will be easy for the current crop of proto-aggregators to do this with chat UIs.
