A concept I love: ofuda.
It's an ancient Shinto religious practice, but has taken on a new life in Anime.
At Shinto shrines, you write specific phrases on paper and attach them to an object to give them good luck.
In Anime, the phrases are spells, and attaching to them an object enchants it.
This is not too unlike programming!
If you have just the right incantation, you can imbue the computer with the ability to take action.
Ted Chiang also explored this idea in his story "Seventy-Two Letters", where the inscriptions are put in the mouths of Golems.
Before, the magical spells of programming, an arcane and unforgiving magic system, were known to only a precious few that had mastered the art through onerous study.
But now LLMs can write the enchantments for you; you can simply write the enchantments in english!
