Adding a token to the product you love is a dangerous move.
There are two very different goals for ecosystem members: 1) token holders and 2) users.
The users want the product to be as useful as possible.
The token holders want the token's value to go up.
These two interests can be aligned… but don't have to be.
There's a constant gravitational pull towards the interests of the token holders.
The moves to increase the value often hollow out the usefulness of the product, in little papercuts.
You as the creator likely hold a lot of the token.
At each point, you're incentivized to hollow out your baby.
If you saw the product as a means to make money, that's fine.
If you saw the product as a moral end, then it's torture.
