  • Adding a token to the product you love is a dangerous move.
    • There are two very different goals for ecosystem members: 1) token holders and 2) users.
    • The users want the product to be as useful as possible.
    • The token holders want the token's value to go up.
    • These two interests can be aligned… but don't have to be.
    • There's a constant gravitational pull towards the interests of the token holders.
    • The moves to increase the value often hollow out the usefulness of the product, in little papercuts.
    • You as the creator likely hold a lot of the token.
    • At each point, you're incentivized to hollow out your baby.
    • If you saw the product as a means to make money, that's fine.
    • If you saw the product as a moral end, then it's torture.
