  • Agency and vision are distinct characteristics.
    • Agency is if the person has a default to action and creation, or if they need to be told what to do.
    • Vision is whether the person has their own personal idea of what to achieve.
    • High-agency / low-vision people are the easiest to manage.
      • You simply point them in a direction, and they execute on it,
      • If they have enough curiosity, they can also learn from experience.
    • High-agency / high-vision are temperamental geniuses.
      • They can produce great things, but if they aren't aligned with where you want to go, it will be a frustrating slot for both of you.
    • Low-agency / high vision is the tortured artist.
      • Lots of great ideas, but nothing created to show for it.
    • Low-agency / low-vision is only good for repeatable, crank-turning tasks.
