Coordination happens no faster than the speed of communication.

The faster the communication in the medium, the larger the scale of coordination that is possible, and the quicker coordinated behaviors can appear and adapt.

In practice though you don't get more large-scale coordinated things at any given timestep, but more of an ever-adapting cacophony, where various mobs appear and then crash away before you even realize they're there.

A power law of size of coordinated things, where the top end gets bigger but the tail still remains.
