    • The group believes something that the rest of the world does not believe–and that also might be directly contradicted by evidence.
    • That means if there's anyone on the bus who doesn't believe the group's mythos, it dilutes the whole enterprise or threatens to explode it.
    • So cults evolve behavior to demand purity tests and ruthlessly cast out anyone who fails them.
