  • Desirable things will attract tourists who show up and ruin it.
    • The properties that made the thing desirable in the first place will erode as more people arrive who just want to participate without the effort.
    • "Can I replace my volunteer contribution with money?"
    • It seems like an OK deal at the moment.
      • Concentrated gain, diffuse cost.
    • But over time, it erodes until everyone is donating instead of volunteering and what made it work in the first place falls apart.
