How clear and compelling a theory sounds doesn't matter.

All that matters is that it's viable in the real world.

Sometimes beautiful theories don't work in the real world.

Sometimes messy, arbitrary-seeming theories work great.

The most sublime is when you somehow get both.

But if you can only get one, an ugly but viable theory is way more important.
