I can't believe that Chrome is planning to roll out AI autopilot for the browser.

    • "In the coming months, we'll be introducing agentic capabilities to Gemini in Chrome. These will let Gemini in Chrome handle those tedious tasks that take up so much of your time, like booking a haircut or ordering your weekly groceries. You tell Gemini in Chrome what you want to get done, and it acts on web pages on your behalf, while you focus on other things."
    • I believe prompt injection makes this impossible to roll out for the existing web for the mass marke[v]t.
      • Rolling out the feature by default for the mass market vs rolling it out for savvy early adopters who can better understand the risk is a way bigger risk.
    • Chrome hasn't talked about any novel mitigations they've come up with.
      • Either they're being reckless or the feature will be so gimped as to be completely useless.
