  • I learned from Ze Frank's Gecko video that water droplets shoot off a hydrophobic surface.
    • When smaller droplets touch, they are pulled into a larger droplet, with much less surface area for the same volume.
    • Surface tension contains energy, so there's now energy that is freed up.
    • That energy in the contraction has to go somewhere, and it can't go against the fixed surface, so it blasts it off away from the surface.
