If you have a chip on your shoulder you won't learn.

· Bits and Bobs 9/9/24

Learning requires absorbing disconfirming evidence, not deflecting it.

When you have a chip on your shoulder, you'll be in a defensive crouch.

Everything has some level of BS.

So if you have a chip on your shoulder you're likely to find confirming evidence for why you have a chip on your shoulder.

If you're in a good mood you'll see the positive parts, if you're in a resentful mood you'll see the BS primarily.

It's hard to reset your perspective once you have a chip on your shoulder.

The easiest way? Just get out of that situation and into a new one.

In a new situation it's easier to be in learning mode.
