  • It's easier to align a collective against a thing than for a thing.
    • A lot more people can agree with "we don't like the guys in charge."
    • Even people who disagree with what should happen can agree they don't think the guys in charge are doing a good job.[hz]
    • Similar to the "why entropy arises fundamentally" argument.
      • There's more directions to go away from something than to go towards a thing, mathematically.
      • If all of the directions away are on the same "team," that team can be larger.
    • This dynamic means that the opposition party coheres to fight the dominant party and then becomes the dominant party and diffuses and fractures and then it all repeats.
