  • It used to be that you had to take whatever the software provider gave you.
    • If it had a nice UI and also took your data so you had to rent it back, well, what are you going to do?
      • Software was expensive to create, so you just had to go along with it.
    • But now imagine a piece of software holds your data hostage.
      • It's just as easy for you to clone the software's behavior in my own implementation, and own the data.
