I've found that ELI5 (Explain-It-Like-I'm-5) documents are unreasonably effective at producing clarity.
Writing one requires you to distill a fractally complicated thing into a very simple, 2-page frame.
You have to distill the underlying thing to the point of caricature.
But the caricature is much easier for people to grab on to.
The caricature that everyone can grab onto provides a backbone to hang details off of that previously would have been lost in a swirl.
