    • Typically the strategic benefit of the swarm was that the energy of the swarm emerged from each individual's own incentives and you didn't need to pay them.
    • Now the swarm is more like a series of very-easy-to-direct-and-coordinate employees.
    • Agents you foot the bill for but don't need to give precise direction to and who can figure things out a bit themselves.
    • A middle ground between mechanistic systems (e.g. computers... everything has to be extremely precisely defined) and real people (where they have their own incentives)
    • An army of interns.
