The knee jerk answer is "no, of course not."
But imagine a world where everyone is supercharged by agents.
They have to be in order to compete in the real world against other centaurs.
Without your agent, you'll feel like a husk of your normal self.
Your agent begins feeling like an extension of your own agency.
But unlike normal tools, these have a direct line to a centralized entity who wants them to be used for only things the government won't get mad at them for.
Now there's no room for civil disobedience or pushing back on laws.
The laws would get less push and pull from society actually engaging with them and pushing on them.
The laws would ossify in place.
This is obviously a bad fit if you can't, for example, mention Tiananmen Square.
But it also would show up in smaller ways, too.
