Solar power is expanding massively.

The problem is that you get energy not when you need it but when there's supply.

But there are some kinds of workload that can be offset in time to when there's cheap supply, e.g. LLM training or BitCoin mining.

BitCoin mining has no incentive to get more efficient; the proof of work (which scales with electricity) is the whole point that undergirds the trust in the system.

AI model training, however, everyone's incentives are aligned to reduce the cost of the energy use.
