  • Someone told me this week that in political science the most important thing to prevent authoritarianism is pluralism.
    • That no single idea is clearly, obviously better than all the others.
    • If you believe an idea can be clearly better than others then it's a slippery slope to get stuck in "well sure it will be messy to make this one idea dominate everything else but it's worth it."
    • Some ideas are always bad; no ideas are always great.
