Somewhat surprisingly to me, the Earth Species Project has a single model for all animals.

I had expected different models for understanding whales, elephants, etc.

But it turns out the model gets better with more examples of animals.

The model improved significantly when they added human speech examples.

That implies to me that there's some fundamental emergent patterns common to all communication.
