- For most fields it's harmless.
- The solipsist only fools themselves.
- But tech and finance are the masters of the universe.
- What they think matters is what does matter.
- If finance thinks it doesn't matter, then it doesn't get financed, and so it doesn't matter.
- The rest of us are beholden to act like it's the only thing that could matter.
- In the past I've called one instantiation of this the Computer Science Fallacy, but I think it's broader.
