· Bits and Bobs 4/6/26
  • There's a significant difference between a human "in" the loop and "on" the loop.
    • In the loop means that a human is required for the loop to move forward.
    • On the loop means the human is able to correct the loop but it can move forward autonomously.
    • A massive difference in efficiency.
    • If you are in the loop you are the bottleneck.
    • You have to let go of the loop, so it can go arbitrarily fast.
    • When you let go of the loop your system can fly.
      • That requires trust, knowing that it can't hurt you.
    • If you want to maximize the AI system's impact for you, you have to not be a limiting factor.
