We pay for our own electricity, but we rarely think about it.

The cost for an individual joule of energy is tiny; it only matters at larger scales.

When we turn on an individual light, we don't think about how much electricity it's using.

But when we buy a new appliance, or buy an electric car, we think about it.

Paying for your own compute would be similar.
