· Bits and Bobs 10/5/26
  • What if you had an executive assistant that sorted all of your notifications for you?
    • An individual app can't moderate its own notifications: it says what content it thinks is most important, but can't say how important it is relative to other apps' content.
      • A given app will always tend to think its content is more important than other apps'.
    • Only an entity dedicated to you can decide that.
    • The mobile OS layer is a natural place to do this, but those rules and expectations were set before LLMs were a thing.
      • The basic expectations of the ecosystem are set.
      • If the mobile OSes tried to structurally change it today, the app developers would scream bloody murder.
    • What would an LLM-native notification system for your life look like?
