  • Why are government forms so confusing?
    • One reason is because as long as it's possible to file them, the agency that requires them doesn't care about improving them.
    • There's no incentive to lessen friction for users, because users have to fill them out if they want the service.
      • There's only the single "provider".
    • Contrast with something in industry; no one has to use this offering vs a competitor, so there's always an edge over competitors to get from making your own offering lower friction to use.
