Why do we stick with things that work, and accrete around them?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Viability means good enough.

Viability is more important in practice than quality.

Quality only matters if you have viability.

If you have a known viable answer and quality doesn't matter that much, why stick your neck out?
