For a schelling point to stay coherent in an ecosystem, everyone has to agree it's reasonable relative to the value of the ecosystem.

At the beginning, everyone thinking it's reasonable is critical.

After the ecosystem has significant momentum around that schelling point, the bar for "forking" the ecosystem gets higher and the bar for "unreasonable characteristics of the owner of the schelling point" also gets larger.
