  • If you're going to clone something that works, you have to clone all of it.
    • Don't even think about what to include or exclude, you'll likely get it wrong.
    • You don't know which parts are load bearing so you just have to assume everything is.[dl]
    • Many years ago I heard a legend about Baidu when it first rolled out.
    • It didn't just look like Google.com's home page, it literally had the same HTML comments in the code.
    • Comments, of course, don't actually change the behavior… but when they cloned it, they didn't want to break anything that might have mattered.
