Remixable software allows software that fits in the nooks and crannies of your life.

Imagine that a certain class of users would love an "Archive" feature in iMessage.

But iMessage has billions of users.

If they add a feature that only some users need, it increases the complexity and confusion for the billion other people.

That means that every new feature has to be obviously "worth it" for just about everyone using it.

But if you can remix any given piece of software, you can add just the features you need, without complicating it for others.
