Sometimes things are rickety in the details, and sometimes they're rickety in the fundamentals.

It can be hard to distinguish the two cases at first.

If it's your thing, you'll think the ricketyness is in the details.

If it's not your thing, you'll assume the ricketyness is in the fundamentals.

If you can't trust the fundamentals it's hard to trust the overall thing.

The only test of which kind of ricketyness it is is if experts are willing to use it without being forced.
