The Atlantic: AI is a Mass-Delusion Event

I've talked in the past about how a signal with a consistent bias across a population^[bm] will stand out even amongst a ton of noise.

That force powers evolution and other beneficial emergent phenomena.

But it can also power malignant emergent phenomena.

It's not just that the chatbot form factor leads to sycosocial relationships that can be dangerous.

It's also that everyone is using the same chatbot, which means any properties of it could cause all of society to get in a weird state.
