· Bits and Bobs 3/30/26
  • The time to reflect and write what you learned gives compounding momentum.
    • That's been my secret for my entire career.
      • I take 20% of my professional time to reflect and synthesize.
      • Self reflection is a super power.
      • A feedback loop to improve yourself.
    • Distilling insights allows you to factor out tools and insights that you can now rely on and not have to create continuously.
      • Convert what had to be opex before into capex.
      • Pay a fixed cost once and now that marginal cost evaporates.
    • Tools that you use always have this shape.
    • Writing didn't necessarily have this use as a tool, because the person you want to be affected by it had to read it.
      • Humans are distractible and impatient, so fewer people will read it than would value it.

      • This means that the value of taking the time to distill written guidance after reflecting is higher than it was before.
