Why do people sometimes kill the goose that lays the golden eggs?
Because right at the moment you get a very nice goose dinner!
If the golden eggs are hard to measure (illegible) then it's easy to get in this situation.
By the time you notice the golden eggs aren't being produced anymore, it's too late.
When it's a goose and eggs, it's very easy to see the connection.
But often the connection between the goose and the golden eggs is way, way less obvious and more indirect.
In the flurry of activity and chaos, it's easy to see the value of the goose dinner, harder to see the abstract and indirect value of the possibly golden eggs in the future.
