    • You set a future outcome as a fixed point to pivot around.
    • That's why individuals often would rather not coordinate if it doesn't help them achieve a thing with the collective that they care about.
    • If people believe in the power of that particular collective they are willing to surrender some of their autonomy to it.
    • Without people seeing the collective as a thing worth investing in, you get an incoherent swarm.
