Most app coordination problems in software are solved today by one entity that has god-like power to see it all.

That has the downside that there's now one ever-more-powerful entity.

Even if that entity starts out with good intentions, that power is corrupting.

These systems struggle to become truly ubiquitous because most participants would rather not cede so much power to that entity.
