At the beginning of the web with slow bandwidth, experimentation was harder / slower.

Every link you clicked would take much longer to load, which made users less willing to click.

As pipes get faster and latency improves, higher bandwidth experimentation (including video!) gets easier.

Faster feedback loops: more experimentation: more users climbing up the ladder of savviness in an open-ended tool.
