It's easy to underestimate the value of horizontal use cases that aren't possible today.

People are crawling through broken glass and don't realize there's another way.

Also there is a lot of glass not worth crawling through that they aren't even bothering with because the pain is self-evidently worse than the benefit so no one would even try.

But removing that broken glass could reveal value that was there all along, we just never imagined could exist.
